In 1694, Eusebio Kino, a Jesuit missionary, found ruins of the Salgado People. Among it was was a four-story Adobe watchtower, called “Casa Grande” and was dated to the 14th century. Another earlier site, the Hohokam Pima National Monument was discovered.
In 1879, the Garza family founded the area when the railroad came through to service the mining boom. Originally named Terminus for the end of the rail line, the town was renamed Casa Grande after the ruins in 1880. The new mining town grew and pivoted to agriculture, incorporating in 1915. The city expanded and has become a great place for family and industry.
Today, the total population of this historic American city is 58,632 people.
