Population
Here’s some cool information and fun facts about Daytona Beach, Florida. The Timucuan indigenous people inhabited the land prior to European colonization in the 18th century. After the American Revolution the Spanish granted land to Samuel Williams in 1787.
The land stayed in the family for almost 100 years and then sold to Mathias Day Jr. in 1871. He built a hotel and the town developed around it. The town was named in his honour and incorporated in 1876. 11 years later the railway came and several towns merged into Daytona Beach.
The smooth, compacted sand on the beach brought the racing community in the early 1900’s and the city continued to grow as both a beautiful place to live and a fun destination to visit.
Today, the total population of this small American city is 69,186 people.
