Here’s some cool information and fun facts about Idaho Falls, Idaho.
The area around Idaho Falls was inhabited by the Northern Paiute and the Shoshone-Bannock tribes and later used by sheep and cattle herders. A settlement started to emerge as trappers and traders worked the area and Harry Rickets started a ferry service on Snake River in 1864. This helped the emerging community travel across the river to new local towns that sprung up.
A toll bridge was erected by Matt Taylor which helped the growing industries and gold seekers to travel through and spur on business. Industry and agriculture increase and the town grew. First called Taylor’s Crossing and then Eagle Rock, the town changed its name to Idaho Falls after the rapids that ran below the bridge.
