Lincoln began being settled in the 1860s, and the arrival of the railroad shortly after led to the town growing immensely, as it was temporarily the terminus of the line. Largely a small town until the 1990s, Lincoln grew immensely when land developers began turning it into a residential community for the Sacramento area.
