In 1837 Michigan became a state and Roseville was added to Orange Township. The farming community grew and the first post office was built in 1840 by William Rose, who named it after his War of 1812 war hero father. The Township was changed to Erin in 1843 after the Irish dominated settlers.
By 1886 a town hall was constructed and the community grew around it and in 1926 it was incorporated as a village. The City of Roseville was born in 1958 with Arthur Waterman as its first Mayor. The population grew and infrastructure followed with the Erin-Roseville Library in 1936 and the East Gate shopping center in the 50s.
Today, the total population of this vibrant American city is 47,018 people.
