St. Petersburg is a city in Florida’s Tampa Bay Area, and it is located on the far southern edge of the bay’s western peninsula. One of the most notable features of St. Petersburg is that it’s connected to the Sunshine Skyway Bridge that connects the Bay Area to nearby Memphis, Florida.
St. Petersburg is well-known for its sunny weather, and it has plenty of attractions to draw in people from all across the state. It is a popular destination for boaters and fishers looking to head out onto the bay, though there are other less nautical attractions for visitors who would prefer to remain land-bound.
Like many other places in Florida, St. Petersburg is popular among golfers, and its beaches are some of the nicest in the local region. St. Petersburg also contains many art museums, including the Dali Museum of surrealist art and the Museum of Fine Arts, containing a broader scope of art.

Population
St. Petersburg was founded by John C. Williams, who was previously a citizen of Detroit. He, along with Peter Demens, was one of the two crucial participants in this city’s foundation, as Demens helped bring the Orange Belt Railway to what would eventually become St. Petersburg.
The city was named St. Petersburg after the city in Russia, where Demens had spent much time when he was younger. The naming right to the city was decided between the two by a coin toss, which Demens won.
