Population
Here’s some cool information and fun facts about Wellington, Florida.
Wellington began as swampland purchased by accountant Charles Oliver Wellington in 1951. He named his 18,000 acre property “Flying Cow Ranch” after his initials and love for aviation. Two years later the State of Florida created the Acme Drainage District with a goal to converting the wetland into farmland. Wellington sold off some land and leased more to farmers who produced varied crops with strawberries dominating the bounty.
In the 1970s more property was sold off to investors who designed a new community and construction began. The community grew and by 1995, Wellington became a village.
Today, the total population of this affluent American community is 65,398 people.
