Population
Here’s some cool information and fun facts about West Hollywood, California. In the 1780s, routes cut through the land, connecting various ranchos towards the ocean, and one principal route developed into the Sunset Strip. Some land was sold to European settlers, and ten years later, the railroad came through, building yards in the area. This led to rapid development, and the town of Sherman sprang up. Sherman benefited from the bustling movie industry in Hollywood and, by 1920, changed the name to West Hollywood.
Sunset Strip emerged as a hub for nightclubs and residential towers where movie stars lived and partied. The strip changed to a music hot spot through the ’60s, and that drove the economy. West Hollywood became a city in 1984, and the residents have created a unique identity in the Los Angeles landscape.
Today, the total population of this glamorous American city is 36,475 people.
